This book(VOL1) deals with "The essence of rope tying"in Chapter 1 and "The experience records about (Japanese) torture".Both chapteres contains many illustrations(especially Chapter 1).They help you understand.

In Chapter 1,author says,"I was a 'Machikata Yoriki',who guarded in Edo many years ago.In a collection of books our colleagues have,there were a lot of books of secrets on Torinawa or scrolls of secrets.Illustrations in this book are based on those materials."

As the author says,this is a Great ref materials,if you are interested in Torinawa.Recommended Item.

VOL2 deals with a variety of death(Chapter1),sexual crime in Tokugawa period,punishment in Edo period,prison in Edo period.Unfortunately,there are few illustrations.But interesting ref materials.Thick Book(507page)Also,Tenkinbon.

This kind of book is called "Ten kin bon" here in Japan."Ten" means "The top of the book"."Kin" means "Gold"."Bon" means "Book"Usually,Tenkinbon is a deluxe dedition.
