In a borad sense,furisode means loose-hanging sleeves that flutter and kosode kimono wuth this kind of sleeve are also called furisode. The sleeves are sewed onto a small section of the kimono body as compared to the other types of kimono,and this allows the sleeve to flutter.In a narrow sense,only slightly padded silk kimono which have fluttering sleeves,are generally regarded to be furisode.
