This book was published in commemoration of 5th anniversary of Fukuyama Art Museum showing many photos of 67 tea utensils. 9 utensils are shown in black and white print, but the rest of the utensils are printed in color. Each utensil has English title.
These utensils in this book are from Moa Museum of Art and Kosanji Museum, and they are related to Sen-rikyu and Hideyoshi Toyotomi. This book also contains the colored photos of tea-ceremony room of gold.
Golden tea ceremony room is the one Sen no Rikyu made by Hideyoshi Toyoyomi's request and no longer remains.So at this exhibition this museum restored the tea ceremony room with the help ofleading fgures in this field.
Rikyu, Sen no Rikyū (1522-1591) is considered the historical figure with the most profound influence on the Japanese tea ceremony. At the age of fifty-eight, Rikyū became tea master for Oda Nobunaga (a major daimyo, the most powerful feudal rulers) and, following his death, for Toyotomi Hideyoshi(daimyo who unified Japan)
These utensils in this book are based on materials owned by Omote Senke with Omote Senke's permission.
