Important Cultural Assets in Japan are tangible assets designated as things which are important culturally and academically by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
They are divided in two parts; Buildings and Arts.
There are approx 4178 buildings and 10283 arts as Improtant Cultural Assets today.
As paintings, there are 1952 designated.
This item -Paintings Vol.7 to 11 contains photos of all Important Cultural Assets at the time this was published such as Buddha, Yamato-e Japanese paintings, Sumi-e ink paintings and the ones in mostly Edo period.
All works on these books are represented the culture of Japan, and deeply related to the belief of Japanese people from long time ago.

Jodo-syu...The Pure Land School, also known as Jodo Buddhism, is a branch of Pure Land Buddhism derived from the teachings of the Japanese ex-Tendai monk Honen. It was established in 1175 and is the most widely practiced branch of Buddhism in Japan.
Vol.9 -Yamato-e in Heian to Muromachi period (8c-16c)
Yamato-e...Japanese painting inspired by Zen Buddhism and developed in the late Heian period. It is considered the classical Japanese style, as opposed to the later ukiyo-e and earlier Chinese kara-e.
Vol.10 -Sumi-e in Muromachi and Momoyama period (14c-16c)
Sumi-e...ink and wash brush paintings Only black ink is used, in various concentrations.
