This book is the photo collection of tea ceremony related to leading figures representative of Japan, such as Rikyu, Oribe and Ensyu and so on.Rikyu is a 16th century tea master, and these three men are called Three Major Tea Master.
There are 189 related items including skiya-style buildng,shown in full color.There are very rare items such as bamboo teaspoons made by three of these men.
Rikyu, Sen no Rikyū (1522-1591) is considered the historical figure with the most profound influence on the Japanese tea ceremony. At the age of fifty-eight, Rikyū became tea master for Oda Nobunaga (a major daimyo, the most powerful feudal rulers) and, following his death, for Toyotomi Hideyoshi(daimyo who unified Japan)
Furuta-ryu school and Enshu-ryu school are one of the branched schools.
Furuta Oribe (1545-1615) was the founder of the Oribe Ryū school of Japanese Tea Ceremony. He is one of Rikyu-Shichitetsu, which means 7 closest disciples of Rikyu.
Kobori Enshu (1579-1647) was a notable artist and aristocrat in the reign of Tokugawa Ieyasu(the founder and first shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate of Japan).
