Have you ever heard of Chigiri-e? Chigiri-e (ちぎり絵, Chigiri-e) is a technique using coloured paper torn to create images (which often give an effect of water colour). The technique dates from the Heian period of Japanese history when it was often used in conjunction with calligraphy. Hand-made paper is essential for the creation of chigiri-e images.
The Japanese word 'chigirie' is the combination of two basic words 'chigiri' and '-e'. Chigiri' is the noun form of the verb'chigiru' which menas 'to tear' and '-e' is an art work or picture painted through tearing of Washi paper.
This book has a lot of photos and illustrations.Even if you don't understand Japanese, you will enjoy this book through many photos.
