【DESCRIPTION】
Title Japanese Oshare Exhibition (4th Exhibition)
Publication Year 2002
Oshare roughly means "Smart"

This book was published as a catalogue of an Kimono Exhibition held by a Famous Newspaper Company in 2002.I hear that this exhibition,as expected, attracted a lot of women. An exhibition room is crowded with a lot of people who are interested in the beauty of Kimono and Kimono themselves.

Shigeko Ikeda is a famous collector of Japanese Kimono from Meiji to Showa and has approx 8,000 Kimonos and related items.

This Kimono pamphelet is relatively rare and I have seldom seen.

It was the curiosity to find out more about a single obidome (an ornament worn at the front of an obi, the fabric worn around the waist) which sparked her passion as a kimono collector over twenty years ago. Questions relating to its origin, context, and intended use eventually led to her large collection today which spans across a broad range of items relating to the fashion. Though most known for her kimonos (the main fabric of a kimono outfit), her great attention to detail for every component of the outfit has made her an influential figure both to her contemporaries and the general public alike. Through her accomplishments over the years such as the popularizing of the decorative han-eri (the collar-piece worn under the kimono previously unemphasized and kept simple), she has proven herself to be an artist interested not only in the preservation of historical treasures but also in contributing to the art in a way which reflects time and culture.

It exhibits a lot of Obidome selected carefully from among her collections.Great ref material if you are interested in Kimono and the beauty of Kimono.

Softcover approx 150 pages Almost all pages are shown in full color.size approx 22cm x 29cm

If you are interested in Kimono and the beauty of kimono, this would be a great collection for you !
