Kabuki (歌舞伎, kabuki) is a form of traditional Japanese theatre. Kabuki theatre is known for the stylization of its drama and for the elaborate make-up worn by some of its performers. The history of Kabuki began in 1603 when Okuni, a miko (young woman in the service of a Shinto shrine) of Izumo Taisha, began performing a new style of dance drama in the dry riverbeds of Kyoto.
This exhibition was held to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Kabuki.It contains a wide variety of Items on Kabuki such as costumes for kabuki,vintage paintings,vintage books called Wahon.
