I don't know when an original edition was published unfortunately.Judging from the the content and preface,I think it is in Edo period that original edition was published In the preface of this book,Yumio Nawa ,who is one of the most famous specialists on Japanese weapons and Ninja says'In the early period of Showa when I was interested in and began to study Japanese weapons,it was this book that I got first. It contains many illustrations of rare weapons that I have never seen and the state of SAMURAI.I was attracted by them immediately. This book has encouraged me to have interest in historical background research.Therfore it can be said that it has been the beginning for my lifework'
As title says,this book contains approx 200 rare Japanese weapons Samurai or Ninja have used for battles.
This book(Original edition) was designated to for people to use it as Karuta.It seems to have been used for educational material for Samurai class in those days.
